Could you get the Seniors Health Card?

What this rough check leaves out
- The exact "adjusted taxable income" Services Australia uses adds back things like salary-sacrificed super and net investment losses, which this rough figure does not.
- Some account-based pensions started before 1 January 2015 are not deemed, so the income test can treat them differently.
- Residency rules, and the fact the limits are reviewed every year, so a near miss today can become a pass after the next change or a drop in your income.
What to check next
- Read the official rules and apply with Services Australia. They set the limits and make the decision. Their page has the current figures and how to claim.
- See if a part Age Pension is in reach. If your assets are not too high, you might qualify for a small Age Pension as well, which brings its own concessions. The self-check shows your band.

Checked against Services Australia on 13 July 2026: the Seniors Health Card income test. The income limits were indexed on 20 September 2025 and are next reviewed on 20 September 2026. Couples separated by illness have a combined limit of $202,210, and each dependent child adds $639.60 to the limit. For a couple where neither person receives a pension, the $55,300 lower deeming threshold applies to each person's account-based pension separately from 1 July 2026. Services Australia makes the actual decision.
Services Australia makes the decision. A first meeting with George looks at how your income is structured, and whether small changes bring the card into reach.
